I see this book as being realistic in terms of possible human behavior in a crisis situation. Maybe a little more communication might have helped, but the interpersonal conflicts eliminated that possibility. However, instead of working together the majority work for their own interests based on what they know and assume - big emphasis on assume. Big differences between the two!! As the trouble builds, the surviving crew members end up on Earth, hoping for rescue by their Martian colonies.

We find that some descendants are living on Mars, but there are some on Earth. How big these issues are come to light when troubles arise soon after they enter Earth orbit. What we learn when the crew first awakens is that the members were not screened well psychologically and that has created issues between the surviving crew members. Their first indication that something might be wrong is the lack of activity in the solar system as well as the lack of communication from Earth. Surprise! They are coming home to an Earth that is 800 years older in real time.

Overall, the average length of time per book for the month is approximately 20 hours and 2 minutes in length. Of course since I listened to them at around 2x, it did not take that long to listen to everything. One of the reasons that there were so few is because the first four books I listened to totaled 140 hours and 34 minutes. In fact I only listened to eleven books, three of which were new. The books I have listened to during September is a lot fewer than I did in August. Three quarters of the year is now finished and as I have done for the other months I have compiled the list of books that I have read.
